Atmospheric air comprises of 78% nitrogen where the PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) process utilizes the chemical CMS (Carbon Molecular Sieve) to extract the Nitrogen gas from atmospheric air.

PSA process consists of 2 vessels that is filled with Carbon Molecular Sieves and Activated Alumina.

Clean compressed air is passed through the 1st vessel (tank) that produces pure nitrogen gas while the other vessel is venting out Oxygen and other gases. The 1st and 2nd vessel takes rounds one by one to produce Nitrogen to make sure continuous Nitrogen gas is produced that goes to the Storage tank.

As oxygen is vented out to atmosphere time to time, there is “pressurization” and “depressurization” process taking place at the Valve section, hence this technology got named as “Pressure Swing” and as the chemical CMS adsorbs oxygen hence the complete name as “Pressure Swing Adsorption”.
